Personal Things

Why I Love This Blog.

I used to have a blog where I wasn’t anonymous. I had a picture of myself on the sidebar, links to my personal social media accounts, and everything. There was no hiding who I was.

For someone who likes attention, that’s a great thing. I’ll admit that I did enjoy people knowing the person behind the words was me. I enjoyed the recognition I got from the few people who did read that blog.

But it was also a curse.

I couldn’t write about what I really wanted to because I was worried the M, MM, D, or A would see it. That would be pretty catastrophic because, in real life, I’m trying to keep a low-contact but decent relationship with them. I don’t want to cut them out completely (yet) because it would be weird. We live in the same town, about 10 minutes away from each other.

But I digress.

The point is that, on that other blog, I couldn’t say what I really wanted to. I couldn’t be myself, not truly. I was constantly putting on this façade for people who were reading my blog instead of being who I am.

With this blog, I can say whatever, do whatever, post whenever, comment whatever I want. I don’t feel hindered on this blog which is why I’ve been able to write a post every day for almost a week now.

I wanted to make my other blog my full-time job. I still would like to eventually do something like that, but that’s not the goal of this blog. Rather, the goal of this blog is to just express myself. It’s kind of like an online diary where I can write out my thoughts and feelings while also sharing those things with other people.

I just love that I don’t feel pressured to provide content that’s similar to other successful blogs. I can just be me and write whatever I want.

If you don’t have a blog yet but you’re considering it, this is your sign to stop waiting! Stop being afraid of whatever is holding you back and just do it! I promise you won’t regret it. 🙂

  1. We all need a vent area where we don’t have to worry about offending anyone. That was the primary reason to make my blog! I’m about half anonymous, having a sly picture which doesn’t really show my face and only linking to blog-related social media. But recently more people from my life have expressed interest in wanting to read my blog, and since I post about a lot other than thoughts, it was okay. I’ve also been happier nowadays so if I want to rant I just do it in my journal.
What do you blog about in your other blog? If you don’t mind me asking.

    1. I like the idea of ranting and such in a journal, but I like to have support when I’m going through rough times. I don’t have anyone I can talk to in real life (aside from my husband) about these things, so it’s nice to be able to have that sense of community on here.

I used to do helpful posts, not really personal posts. I would post lists, advice posts, and stuff like that. 🙂
